Malibu Pineapple rum was introduced May 2004. It is one of 13 flavored rums they create with rum from the West Indies Distillery in Barbados. The rum starts with molasses from the finest sugarcane. Malibu is distilled three times before natural pineapple flavor is added in Canada where it is bottled at 21% alcohol.The aroma is Jolly Rancher sweet pineapple. The flavor while sweet doesn’t have that over sweetened, tooth shattering feel. I would describe the flavor as candy sweet pineapple with a light rum flavor enhancing the taste. It fades with a mild mouth warming and a hint of coconut, before finishing with tangy pineapple and rum flavor and a gentle rum burn as I swallow.
