McKenzies Lazy Lemon Hard cider was introduced April 2013. It is their Spring and Summer seasonal cider and one of five hard ciders made with cider sourced from Mayer Brothers in West Seneca New York. With the makers of Mikes Hard Lemonade entering the cider and apple ale market, and the increased popularity of Lemon Shandy’s, it was only a matter of time before someone created a lemon cider.
It pours to a lightly carbonated bright golden color. The aroma is a musty mix of apple and lemon. The crisp apple entry is joined by lemon building to a tart lemonade peak and a slightly malty and lightly acidic finish. By the time I finished the bottle my overall feeling was maybe this is a little too tart. Served on the rocks helps to soften the almost sour lemon peak.
