Review: Native Organic Vodka
Native Organic Vodka is handcrafted in small batches at Old Town Distilling Co. in Fort Collins Colorado. Jeremy Kempter founded Old Town in 2014 and is the Master Distiller. He also crafts gin, bourbon, rye, and corn whiskey. Native Organic Vodka is made from organic maize grown on small farms in Northern Colorado. It is distilled 6 times on a custom built copper pot still and finished with snowmelt from the Upper Cache La Poudre River, AKA pure Rocky Mountain water. The aroma leads with vanilla. Additional time brings out toasted almond, boiled corn, and fresh peeled blood orange. The sweet vanilla entry is joined by almond building to a blood orange and toasted almond peak. It fades with juicy grapefruit, milky corn, and mineral and finishes dry, warm, and peppery with burnt grapefruit peel, saline, and black pepper. With a little smoother landing Native would have scored even higher.
