Review: Original Sin Cherry Tree Cider
Original Sin Cherry Tree cider was introduced in 2011. It is one of five Original Sin ciders made at the Florida Beer Company in Melbourne Florida. Original Sin was first created in Upstate New York in 1997. Their Cherry Tree cider is one of their two Heirloom ciders. It is made with Golden and Russet Heirllom apples and blended with the juice of tart cherries and Champaign yeast in small batches with no artificial flavor, sugar, or color added. It pours to a fully effervescent strawberry blonde color and a thin white head. The aroma is apple with a hint of cherry. The flavor enters as tart cherry softened by crisp apple. It builds to a tart Granny Smith and cherry peak before a semi dry bittersweet finish. While I feel this is an acurate discription of this cider, those looking for a bold cherry and tart apple experience may be a little disapointed. I would discribe the flavors here as more similar to a flavored sparking wine experience, than a mainstream Woodchuck, or Angry Orchard cider taste.
