Stoli Cranberi vodka was introduced November 2005.  It is one of 17 flavors created by Stoli in Latvia starting with wheat and pure artisian well water that is triple distilled and filtered four times before natural flavors are added.  The cranberry is one of three fruits commercially grown that are native to North America.  The others are Concord grape and blueberry.  Originally used by native Americans for food, dyes and medicine, cranberries are still primarily grown in North America with Wisconsin and Massachusetts the leading suppliers.  The aroma is cranberry with a hint of strawberry licorice.  The flavor enters as a soft strawberry building to a cranberry peak before a mild to medium mouth warming with mineral water and vodka flavor on the dry finish.  Additional sips brings out a creaminess to the vodka and less heat on the finish.  While vodka and cranberry juice is a popular cocktail, most cranberry flavored vodkas balance the cranberries natural tartness with a sweeter fruit flavor.  The previously reviewed Finlandia Cranberry had some raspberry notes, Absolut Cherry Cran blends cranberry and cherry, and Stoli Cranberi has some strawberry flavor to balance the cranberries natural tart flavor.  Stoli Cranberi vodka is smooth enough to drink on the rocks or try a Stoli Cranberi Martini.
