Review: Sugar Island Coconut Rum

Sugar Island Coconut - CopySugar Island Coconut rum was introduced with their Spiced rum September 2013.  It was created by the Trinchero Family Estates, the family behind over 27 brands of wine including their first, Sutter Home.  This is their second spirit venture as they also own the Cruz and Tres Agaves lines of Tequila.  Sugar Island coconut is made with Caribbean sugar cane and natural coconut flavor.

The aroma is coconut cream pie with a hint of rum.  The feel in my mouth is slightly syrupy.  The flavor is simple syrup and creamy coconut building to a sweet rum peak before a slight burn as it slides down my throat.  What makes Sugar Island Coconut special is the creaminess of the natural coconut flavor.  This rum is smooth enough to drink on the rocks or try one of their cocktails including an Island Girl.

    Since my honey and I discovered sugar island it’s become our household Friday night delicacy to unwind a busy week. It’s so good by itself giving us the thrill effect. Our friends are liking the drink as well. kudos to the brew master
