Review: Svedka Colada Vodka

Svedka Colada Vodka was introduced July 2012.  It was their seventh flavor at the time, and it was bottled at 75 proof.  Svedka now produces 12 flavors and their Colada flavor is bottled at 70 proof.  This review is for their 75 proof Colada.  I have yet to find their 70 proof Colada.  Each 750ml bottle is made with four pounds of Swedish winter wheat.  A continuous distillation process is used before the vodka is run through high performance purification columns five separate times to remove impurities.  Ice cold water from Swedish springs is then blended with the vodka before natural coconut, mango, and pineapple flavor is infused.  With this ingredient list, and the name on the bottle there is no doubt a Pina Colada is the inspiration for this vodka, but since it is made with vodka instead or rum a more appropriate name would be Chi-Chi.The aroma is creamy coconut and sweet pineapple with a vodka backing.  The sweet pineapple entry is joined by creamy coconut building to a colada frosting flavored peak.  It fades with a peppery sting and heat leaving a lightly bitter taste that includes some vodka flavor.  While Svedka Colada will taste good in a well prepared cocktail, I’m not sure I’m all in, served on the rocks.  Perhaps their 70 proof version has a smoother finish.
