Review: Take Five Hard Seltzer

by Jeff Ellingson

Take Five Hard Seltzer was launched November 2020 by Studio Beverage Group.  It is sold in a four flavor 12 can variety pack.  Take Five is made with a blend of premium malts, pure seltzer water and all-natural fruit flavors.  Each 12 ounce can weighs in with 100 calories 5% alcohol and 0 carbs.  Studio Beverage Group also produces Take Five CBD Infused Sparkling Water.

Take Five Cranberry Raspberry: The nose leads with fresh raspberry.  The sweet juicy raspberry entry is joined by tart cranberry building to a foamy seltzer peak.  It fades with malt and saline and finishes with tart and sour cranberry sweet raspberry and carbon seltzer taste.

Grade: B-

Take Five Lemon Lime: The nose leads with Sprite soda.  Additional time brings our more of a defined lemon and lime.  The 7Up entry builds to a tart lemon and lime peak.  It fades with sour citrus, saline, and creamy seltzer and finishes with malt and carbon seltzer.

Grade: B-

Take Five Cherry:  The nose leads with JuJu Red Cherry Candy Coins.  The sweet cherry entry builds to a tart candied cherry peak.  It fades with foamy seltzer and malt and finishes with Ferrara cherry sour balls and carbon seltzer.

Grade: B

Take Five Mango:  The nose leads with malt and dried mango.  The malty tropical fruit entry builds to a tangy orange and mango peak.  It fades with sweet and sour unripe fruit and finishes with malt, orange peel, and carbon seltzer.

Grade: C-

The Bottom Line:  The premium malt blend base of Take Five has a malty flavor that may appeal to your beer drinking friends who are reluctant to try a hard seltzer.
