Review: Tequila Dahlia Cristalino
Tequila Dahlia Cristalino was introduced March 2021 by Fausto Zapata and Vicente Cisneros. The pair launched El Silencio Mezcal in 2013. Tequila Dahlia is made from 100% estate grown Blue Weber agave grown in the tequila valley of Jalisco. It is produced at Destileria Leyros. This distillery also makes Casa Dragones, Casazul, and Republic Tequila. Once distilled the spirit rests for 6 months in American White oak barrels. The tequila is then charcoal filtered to remove the color and some of the wood notes. The aroma leads with black licorice, thyme, cooked agave, vanilla blossom, lemon, and cherry candy. The sweet vanilla and cooked agave entry is joined by poultry seasoning and black licorice building to a kiwi and cherry cough drop peak. It fades with vanilla, lemon, and cherry gummy bear, and finishes dry with black pepper, cooked agave, and lemon peel.
