Review: Truly Wild Berry Vodka
Truly Wild Berry is one of three vodka’s developed in a collaboration between Truly’s parent company, Boston Beer Works, and Beam Suntory. The others include Strawberry Lemonade, and Pineapple Mango. These three blends are among Truly’s most popular hard seltzer flavors. The vodka is made from 100% corn, and is triple distilled. Truly is blended and bottled at the same Frankfort Kentucky distillery Pinnacle is produced. Natural flavors, certified colors, and unlike Truly Hard Seltzer, 5% real juice is blended before bottling at 60 proof. It pours to a burnt red-orange color. The aroma leads with raspberry and blackberry. Blueberry follows. The sweet raspberry syrup and blueberry preserve entry builds to a juicy wild berry bubblegum peak. It fades with blackberry cough syrup flavor, and finishes with sour blueberry, grapefruit peel and a heavier than expected vodka blast that leaves heat and a medium sting. Truly Wild Berry tastes much better mixed in a cocktail, but I review spirits chilled, and on their own.
