Review: DeLeon Platinum Tequila

Deleon Platinum Tequila Image - CopyDeleon Platinum Tequila was introduced November 2014.  The Deleon Tequila brand was initially launched in 2009 by Brent Hocking and it featured an Ultra Premium line of tequila ranging from $150-850 per bottle.  In December 2013 Deleon was sold to Diageo and Sean Diddy Combs in a 50-50 partnership.  The two had already worked together to build Ciroc Vodka.  The brand has been completely rebuilt with the bottle and name about the only thing remaining.  Even the distillery has changed.  Platinum is one of six tequila expressions Deleon now creates with hand selected 100% Blue Weber agave.  The agave is slow roasted in traditional clay ovens and slowly fermented.  Platinum is twice distilled with the beginning and end of each distillation cut by the master distiller, allowing only the Corazon, or heart to find its way into every fragrance grade glass bottle of Deleon.
