Review: Van Gogh Pomegranate Vodka

Van gogh pomegranate - CopyVan Gogh Pomegranate vodka was the second pomegranate flavored vodka when it was introduced October 2006.  Pearl Persephone was the first.  It is one of 22 flavored vodka’s they craft in Holland.  A blend of wheat, corn, barley, and purified water is double distilled in a column still.  A third distillation in a copper pot still in small batches follows.  Imported pomegranate from Spain, along with strawberry, cranberry and orange are infused with the vodka using a six week double infusion process before bottling at 70 proof. Review: UV Ruby Red Grapefruit Vodka

UV Ruby Red Grapefruit - CopyUV Ruby Red Grapefruit vodka was just introduced.  This is UV’s second Grapefruit flavored vodka.  The first one I reviewed March 12, 2014.  I believe that one was available in limited markets as it never appeared on the UV website.  It poured to a clear color and had a white grapefruit flavor to it.  Ruby Red already appears on the UV website and it is one of 21 vodka’s currently featured.  UV starts with Midwest grown yellow corn and purified water from deep aquifers in Princeton Minnesota.  It is distilled four times and then filtered with activated carbon.  Natural flavors including real grapefruit juice are added before bottling at 60 proof. Review: Ruskova Orange and Pineapple Vodka

001 - CopyRuskova Orange and Pineapple vodka is one of five flavored vodka’s Anson Imports makes in Nizhniy Novgorod Russia.  They started in 2005 with Russian entrepreneur Oleg Lazanovitch’s father’s recipe which has been passed down from generation to generation.  It is made with winter wheat and soft rye and it is distilled six times.  All natural orange and pineapple flavor is added before bottling at 70 proof. Van Gogh Dutch chocolate - CopyVan Gogh Dutch Chocolate vodka was the industries first chocolate flavored vodka when it was introduced in 2002.  In 2011 they added a Dark Chocolate flavored vodka.  It is one of 22 flavored vodka’s they craft in Holland.  A blend of wheat, corn, barley, and purified water is double distilled in a column still.  A third distillation in a copper pot still in small batches follows.  Imported cocoa beans are infused with the vodka using a six week double infusion process, before bottling at 70 proof. Review: Oddka Apple Pie Vodka

Oddka Apple Pie vodka - CopyOddka Apple Pie vodka is one of six vodka flavors created at the Wyborowa Vodka distillery in Poland.  The other flavors include, Wasabi, Fresh Cut Grass, Salty Caramel Popcorn, Electricity, and a vodka flavored vodka.  Hence the Oddka brand name.  It was introduced in limited US markets in October 2012, and then launched Nationally the Spring of 2013.  It is distilled from grain and naturally flavored. Review: Pinnacle Mimosa Vodka

Pinnacle mimosa - CopyPinnacle Mimosa vodka was just introduced along with their Habanero flavored vodka.  For those unfamiliar with a mimosa, it is a mix of Champaign and orange juice that is most commonly served at Sunday brunch.  This is Pinnacles third orange flavored vodka joining their Orange and Orange Whipped Cream flavors.  I guess when you have nearly 50 vodka flavors their is going to be some overlap.  Pinnacle starts with French grown wheat that is distilled five times.  Pure French spring water is added before it is shipped to Frankfort Kentucky where natural flavors are added before it is bottled at 60 proof. Review: Svedka Grapefruit Jalapeno Vodka

svedka grapefruit jalapeno - CopySvedka Grapefruit Jalapeno vodka was just introduced along with an unflavored 100 proof vodka.  This is the third new grapefruit flavored vodka launched this year.  While grapefruit may be the hottest taste, heat is another popular trend.  Heat and higher alcohol content.  Svedka also introduced a 100 proof vodka.  Heat in the form of cinnamon flavor, Fireball cinnamon whisky, and their many clones.  Heat in the form of peppers, Pinnacle Habanero vodka.  It was only a matter of time before someone combined the two.  SGJ is crafted in Lidkoping Sweden with four pounds of Swedish winter wheat needed for each 750 ml bottle.  They use a continuous distillation process and then run the vodka through high performance purification columns five separate times to remove impurities.  Ice cold water from Swedish underground springs is then blended in before all natural grapefruit and jalapeno flavors are infused with the vodka. Review: Absolut Hibiskus Vodka

absolut hibiskus - CopyAbsolut Hibiskus vodka was launched in the US, January 2013.  It is one of twenty flavored vodkas Absolut currently crafts for the US market.  They start with Swedish winter wheat sourced from 450 local farms and pure deep well water from naturally filtered aquifers in Ahus Sweden.  A continuous distillation process is used.  All natural flavors including Hibiskus and pomegranate are infused.  No sugar is added before it is bottled at 80 proof.  Hibiskus is the state flower of Hawaii, where it is common for women to wear the flower behind their ear.  If it is worn on their right side the girl is available.  If it is worn behind their left ear they are in a relationship. Review: Pravda Coconut Vodka

Pravda Coconut vodka - CopyPravda Coconut vodka is one of eight vodka flavors Pravda creates in Poland with their original vodka as a base.  It is made in small batches with pristine ice cold Carpathian mountain spring water and local late harvest sweet rye.  They use a five step continuous distillation process that includes two extra high column stills.  This is followed by an extra distillation in a copper still to soften the taste.  It is then filtered with charcoal made from French Birchwood.  A cold stabilization process where the vodka passes through ultra technical filters under high pressure is then used.  Natural flavors are infused before bottling at 75 proof. Svedka Clementine - CopySvedka Clementine vodka is one of twelve vodkas they create in Lidkoping Sweden.  Four pounds of Swedish Winter wheat is needed for each 750ml bottle.  They use a continuous distillation process and then run the vodka through high performance purification columns five separate times to remove impurities. Ice cold water from Swedish underground springs is then blended in before the essence of Italian tangerines from Sicily and Calabria are infused with the vodka. Read more »
