Review: OYO Original American Character Vodka
OYO Original American Character Vodka is made from 100% Non GMO soft red winter wheat grown within an 80 mile radius of the Middle West Spirits Distillery in Columbus Ohio. It is small batch craft distilled once on a custom Kothe still and bottled unfiltered. The distillery was founded in 2008 by Brady Konya and Ryan Lang. In 2010 they released their first spirit, OYO Vodka. In 2018 they had a brand refresh with a new bottle, new name but the same formula. Middle West Spirits also makes OYO Honey Vanilla Bean, OYO Barrel Finished Honey Vanilla Bean, and OYO Stone Fruit Vodka, along with 2 Ryes, 2 Bourbons, 2 Wheat Whiskeys, and Vim & Petal Dry Gin. Review: Heart of Glass Strawberry Vodka
Heart of Glass Strawberry Vodka is crafted at Toledo Spirits Company in Toledo Ohio. At one time Toledo was the glass capital of the world earning the towns nickname Glass City. Toledo Spirits was founded by Andrew Newby, Lukas Kummer, and Dustin Wade. They released their first spirit, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot in 2015. November 2016 they introduced Heart of Glass Strawberry Vodka. They currently also produce Heart of Gold Vodka, Orange Tiger Liqueur, East Side Gin, and Maumee Moonshine. Heart of Glass Strawberry is made from a 100% corn base that is distilled six times. Fresh Ohio strawberries grown at Polters Berry Farm in Fremont Ohio are macerated with the spirit before distilling a seventh time. One pound of fresh strawberries is needed to produce one 750 ml bottle. The vodka passes through a cartridge filter before bottling at 80 proof. Read more
Review: Voltage Vodka
Voltage Vodka is crafted by March First Brewing and Distilling in Cincinnati Ohio. The name comes from the date the brewery and the state of Ohio were both founded. March First currently produces Beer, Hard Cider, Hard Seltzer, and a line of spirits that includes Sycamore Whiskey, Cooper Island Rum, and Voltage Vodka. Voltage Vodka was launched December 2017. It is distilled from wheat and a small amount of Ohio grown apples. The 100% apple juice used is a blend of apples including Johnathan and Winesap. Read more
