Review: Dented Brick Craft Vodka

Dented Brick Craft Vodka is made from 100% locally grown corn and artesian well water that flows clean and pure from the Wasatch Mountains.  The vodka and distillery are named for the well driller who was killed in a gunfight that left impressions in the bricks of his house.  Some of those bricks were used to build the Dented Brick Distillery in South Salt Lake City.  Marc Christensen opened the distillery March 2016 with the launch of his first spirit, Antelope Island Rum.  Today they craft over a dozen spirits including vodka, gin, rum, and whiskey.  Dented Brick Craft Vodka is distilled on a custom Vendome Copper & Brass Works still, then filtered, and bottled onsite. Review: Roofraiser Vodka

Roofraiser Vodka is one of over a dozen spirits crafted at Dented Brick Distillery in South Salt Lake City Utah.  Some of the other spirits include Antelope Island Rum, Jan’s Premium Craft Rum, Great Basin Bristlecone Gin, Hugh Moon Whiskey, and Dented Brick Premium Craft Vodka, Gin, and Rum.  The distillery was build on land that was once the farm of Utah’s first distiller of record.  Hugh Moon produced whiskey in Salt Lake City for early pioneers starting in the 1850’s.  Included in the purchase was a brick home where legend has it, during a gunfight that killed the owner on his front porch, the bullets left dents in the bricks.  Those bricks were hand removed and are now part of the newly constructed distillery.  Roofraiser vodka takes its name from the fact that the newly constructed distillery was not tall enough to house the 28 foot custom copper still they purchased to craft their spirits.  The roof was raised to accommodate the still.  Roofraiser is made from 50% organic red winter wheat, 50% pumpernickel rye and snow melt water from Utah’s Wasatch Mountains that flows through the earth into their private well.  The grain is all non GMO, and is grown in Utah.  Roofraiser Vodka is fermented, small batch distilled, and bottled on site. Review: Five Wives Vodka

Five Wives Vodka is made from 100% corn and Utah mountain spring water sourced from a spring inaccessible by vehicle.  The water is hiked out five gallons at a time.  The spirit is distilled in stainless steel column stills at Ogden’s Own Distillery in Ogden Utah.  Five Wives Vodka was launched in 2011.  The distillery also produces Five Wives Sinful, cinnamon, and Five Wives Heavenly, vanilla flavored vodka.  Their spirits portfolio also includes a gin, several whiskies, and fruit liqueurs. Review: High West 7000 Vodka

High West 7000 Vodka is produced at the High West Distillery in Park City Utah.  The distillery was founded in 2006 by husband and wife team David and Jane Perkins.  The High West Distillery is best known for their many award winning whiskies.  7000 refers to the elevation of the distillery in feet.  High West 7000 starts with an eau de vie made from 85% oats and 15% barley malt.  It is small batch distilled in a 250 gallon manually operated copper pot still.  Free range snow melt water naturally filtered in deep rock aquifers, and sourced neutral spirit made from wheat and corn are blended with the eau de vie.  The spirit is not chill or carbon filtered before bottling at 80 proof.
